Trojans Look Good To Carver Heights Coach

Johnny Fluitt, senior, number 10, 6 feet 1 weight 175 quarterback and captain. A brilliant student, past vice president of the student body and a good leader. Plays offensive and defensive ball.
James Godbolt, senior number 16, 5 feet ten inches, weight 166, center, linebacker and co-captain. A serious student of the game and a very hard worker. Will also fill in this year as the number two quarterback.
Charlie Tarver, a freshman, number 82, 6 feet 3 inches weight 200. Plays tight end and split end positions. Best pass receiver and deadly blocker. Second year on the varsity squad. A young boy and still growing.
Leroy Hudson, senior, number 17, 5 feet 8 inches, weight 160. Plays the monster-man on defense. An exceptional good tackler and fills in at offensive guard.
Leonard Chatman, junior number 82, 6 feet 1 inch, weight 155. A first year boy with no previous game experience. However, his efforts combined with his ability to catch the ball will certainly earn him respect before the season is over. Plays end.
James Hooks, junior, number 42, 6 feet, weight 170. Another first boy. Has tremendous power in his kicks and will do most of the punting this year. A left footed kicker who has shown in practices that he wants to play offensive end.
Alphonso Jones, junior number 54, 5 feet 10 inches weight 165. Switched from guard to center this year and fills in fine. Very rugged and good blocker. Teammates refer to him as "Boss-man".
George Morgan, sophomore, number 70, 5 feet 10 inches weight 220 offensive tackle and nose-man on defense. Very quick for his size and one of the most coachable boys on the team. Quick; good natured and plays his best.
Theodore Mackey, senior, number 74, 6 feet, weight 190, lineman. Commonly referred to as "The Bull". By far the best lineman we have had in a longtime. Loves contact and the rougher the better. Will go down in Trojans history as one of the greatest.
Albert Kincaid, senior, number 62, 5 feet 10 inches, lineman. Another rugged boy has played for three years and this promise to be his best.
Dennis Jackson, junior, number 52, 5 feet 7 inches, lineman, weight 152. Rather small to play in the line but this is his preference. Quick as a flash Flip-Flop on certain plays as that his quickness may be utilized in pulling.
William Kerrison, senior number 14, 5 feet 8 inches, back. If he can stay will be one of the best running backs on the team. Good moves in an open field.
Artis Brown, junior number 23, 5 feet 6 inches, weight 170. The workhorse of the team. Stays in excellent condition and was the second leading ground gainer last year. Because of his stocky build, opponents have found it difficult to contain him.
Ronald Croskey, sophomore, number 88, 6 feet, weight 160. A tireless worker with exceptionally good speed. Lineman, who can double in the backfield if needed. Remains in excellent condition the year round.
Thomas Parker, sophomore, number 62, 5 feet 10 inches, weight 165. Lineman, plays both ways and a keen standout of the game. Analyzes his opponents and tries to take advantage of them.
Calvin Lanier, senior, number 28, 5 feet 9 inches, weight 145. Has the best pair of hands on the team, good moves, and at times calls his pass patterns. All these qualities make him the best flanker man on the team. Also plays safety on defense and returns punts. Not very fast but real tricky. Nick-name "Mule". He is the pepper man on the squad, talks on the field, in the dressing room and on the bus. A staunch competitor.
David Zow, senior, number 31, 6 feet 1 inch, weight 177 flanker and back, very fast runs the hundred in 10.2. Used primarily with the offensive bunch. Likes to return Kickoffs
John Dabney, junior, number 10, 5 feet 11 inches, weight 150. A first year boy who will certainly help before the season is too far along the way. A brilliant student and a member of the honor society. Quarterback.
Joseph Fields, sophomore, number 76, 5 feet 10 inches weight 170 Lineman. A first year boy with a bright future. Is certain to see plenty of action before the season is over. Catches on quickly and likes contact.
Curtis Lueallen, junior, number 44, 5 feet 10 inches weight 172, A transfer student from Sumter County and with previous experience Is certain to help the Trojans. Plays both ways.
Walter Harrison, junior number 40, 6 feet, weight 166. Another transfer student from Sumter County. Plays both ways and has fairly good speed.
Leroy Houser, junior, number 22, 5 feet 7 inches, weight 135. Has played split end for the last two seasons. A good receiver and plenty of guts to make up for what he lacks in size.
Joseph Walker, junior number 86, 5 feet 5 inches weight 136. Like Leroy, Joe is small in stature but one of the best tackles on the squad. Plays the tight end blocks as if he weighed a ton.
Arthur Wright, junior, number 58, 6 feet, weight 160 center. A first year boy but by no means does he let that handicap him. Is very aggressive and determined and is sure to let his presence be known before the season is over.
Henry Graham, sophomore, number 60. 5 feet 10 inches, weight 163. Used as an offensive guard because of his good lateral movements. Has the potentials to be one of the best linemen around.
Eddie R. Wright, sophomore, number 79, 6 feet 2 inches, weight 180. Still growing and loves the game. Has a great future and because of his desire, will play some this season.
Charles Caldwell, sophomore, number 29, 5 feet 8 inches, weight 155. Played the first 2 games of last year, was injured and didn't return seems to be sound as of now and raring to go. Plays offensive and defensive ball.
James Mackey, sophomore, number 35, 6 feet weight 151. Predicting is that he will turn out to be a valuable asset about mid-season. Goes both ways. Known as the "little bull".
Eugene Ellis, sophomore, number 18, 5 feet 5 inches, weight 160. Was the team's fourth best ground gainer last year before being sideline with injuries. Is hard to bring down and runs with authority.
Robert Bryant, sophomore, number 19, 5 feet 10 inches weight 148. A flanker-man with sticky fingers. Although Small, is considered to be one of best blockers on team. A great future is in store for this boy.

Gloria Brown, junior, An attractive bundle of beauty that the boys select themselves. Gloria is the daughter of Maggie Brown and the late Vinson Brown. She makes a lovely sweetheart for the boys who take great pride in choosing their queen.
Coaching Staff
Hubert O. Dabney, a native of Leesburg, serves as head coach. He is certified in English and Physical Education and has headed the athletic department for the past 24 years. Coach Dabney is a graduate of Xavier University of New Orleans, Louisana.
Lonzia J. Berry, also a native of Leesburg, is the number one assistant. His major is Industrial Arts and he has been on staff for the past 15 years. Berry is a graduate of A. and T. College of Greensboro, North Carolina.
John Sweetwine, a native of Daytona Beach, is in charge of the scouting program. His major is Social Studies and has served on the staff for 20 years. He is a graduate of Bethune-Cookman of Daytona Beach.
Robert Alderman, a native of Sebring, serves as backfield coach. He has a major in Science and has been a member of the Staff for four years. He is a graduate of Florida A and M of Tallahassee.
