The Leesburg undefeated Carver Heights High Trojans of the Central Florida Athletic Conference won their 1961 Homecoming game here last night in the Venetian Gardens ball park over the previously undefeated Phylliss Wheatley High Panthers of Apopka 21-0.

Willie Hannah, a fast speedy back for the Trojans, chalked up two touchdowns; while Captain Eddie Joe Sneed, threw a touchdown pass to end Ronnie Roundtree, and Robert Brown, a lineman for the Trojans scored a safety for the Trojans.

All the  Trojans scores came in first and second quarters of the game. Next Friday night, the Carver Heights Trojans will close out their season in Melbourne and Coach Dabney, said this morning that they haven't been held under 40 points a game this season.

Leesburg's Carver Trojans Win 32-0

The Leesburg Carver High Trojans of Central Florida Athletic Conference opened their 1961 season last night in the Venetian Gardens ball park with a 32-0 win over the Eustis Tigers before an enthusiastic crowd.

Willie Hannah, the Trojans left halfback, was trouble to the Eustis Tigers, as he rolled up three touchdowns and one extra point with the help of Captain Eddie Jo Sneed, quarterback, and Frank Gibbs the other halfback each making one tally and Arnett Hawkins making one extra point.

Coach H.O. Dabney said the Trojans lineman Richard Davis and Willie Peterkin at tackles and end Ernie Roundtree, turned in some very nice defense work.

Leesburg Carver High Trojans will go to Ocala next week to meet the Ocala Bulls. This game may be set back to Thursday if the Ocala Wildcats are playing home Friday.

The next home game for the Trojans will be Thursday night, October 12, when they meet DeLand at 8 p.m.

Both bands from Eustis and Leesburg Carver High gave a nice halftime show last night.
