The Carver Heights high school championship football team reaped top conference honors, Thursday in a special assembly program at the school. Wilts Alexander, Orlando executive secretary of the Florida Inter-scholastic Athletic Assn., presented the team with a gold football trophy, signifying the team’s winning the Central Florida Athletic Conference.

Ten members of the team received miniature gold footballs for being selected all conference. This was almost half the number of miniature footballs issued in the conference. Voted all conference were: Capt. Lewis Moat, Co-capt. Cornell Lowery, Edward Haynes, Steve Patterson, Emory Hamilton, George Stephens, Donald Bisbee, Melvin Hawkins Walter Wiggins and James Johnson.

Charlie Mae Greene, voted Miss Trojan Queen for the second year in a row, also received a miniature gold football. Head coach H. O. Dabney said it is the first time in history of the school that a girl has held the title Queen two years in succession.

The Carver Heights Trojans won eight and lost one, a non-conference game with Daytona Beach. Coach Dabney said Daytona, a class A team, won the game by four points.
